Good to know

Welcome to our Hot Springs Ranger Cabin! Our hand-built log cabin is one of two homes situated on 5 peaceful and wild acres of oak-hickory-pine forest in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains right next to the national park and historic downtown Hot Springs. Why Your Family Will Love Staying Here: • 🌲 Immersed in nature. Our 2 cabins are nestled in the forest on 5 acres. We have abundant wildlife. We see deer, turkeys, rabbits & more. 🦌 • 🔥🛁 Cedar Hot Tub - No trip to Hot Springs National Park is complete without a nice long soak. Plush robes provided. 🔥🛁 • 🚴 Less than 2 mi. to Cedar Glades & Northwoods mountain bike parks w/ miles of hiking & biking trails. 🥾 • ⛰️ Our land is only 4 mi. to Hot Springs National Park. We are very close to sunset trail and balanced rock. 🏕️ • ♟️ We have a vintage style record player & lots of fun board games, books & mucho DVDs for movie night. 🍿 • 🔥 We have a fire pit and grill. Beautiful sunsets over the mountain! 🌄 Exceptional star gazing. 🪐 • 🍽 Fully Stocked Modern Kitchen – Instapot, Toaster Oven, Gas Range, Coffee Station, Oils & Spices. ☕ • ⚡️ Starlink Internet & a great desk – Fast, reliable Wi-Fi for streaming & comfortable remote work. As former Hot Springs National Park rangers, my wife and I have thoughtfully curated this cabin to be a nature lover's refuge. Our land is minutes from trails of Northwoods and Cedar Glades Mountain bike parks, as well as the Sunset Trail, (the longest trail in the national park). It is both a quiet retreat and an ideal base for exploring Hot Springs’ remarkable natural and cultural landscape. We have furnished our property with birdhouses, making it an excellent location for birdwatching. Deer, rabbits and turkeys can often be spotted in the early mornings and evenings. You will love the vibrant colors of sunset over the mountain ridge while you grill out, enjoy the rocking chairs, or play yard games. Evenings are best spent on the porch or around the fire pit as the forest settles into its nightly rhythm. Inside, you can relax on our designer furniture and unwind with a favorite record, browse our extensive DVD collection, or gather for board games around the table. The QLED flatscreen and Starlink high-speed internet ensure modern convenience while you are cozy in the peace of our woodland refuge. Though our cabin was originally built by hand in the 1940s, we have completely updated the inside to modern standards. You will love the blend of craftsmanship and comfort. Rustic charm blends seamlessly with mid-century modern simplicity and bohemian warmth. Every detail nods to a ranger’s curiosity: field guides for local flora and fauna, maps for planning hikes, and binoculars for birdwatching. The two bedrooms each feature plush memory-foam queen beds and soft quality linens. The kitchen is equipped with a gas range, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, blender, crockpot, Instapot and all the essentials - which makes it easy to prepare meals after a day outdoors. We provide basic oils and spices, coffee, cream and sugar. Our small home office by the window has a vintage solid wood desk for you to use if you absolutely must get a little work done while you are here. We spared no expense to make sure you can stay connected. Our Starlink High speed internet is the best you can get out here tucked in this mountain valley. The cabin sits across the yard from the Wildcat Cottage, which is another vacation rental we offer. This is the only space on our 5 acres that is off limits to respect the privacy of the other guests. Each house has its own private parking, yard, grill and firepit. You can rent both houses for a bigger group and get the whole secluded property to yourselves, (Sleeps 12). We’ve curated this space for travelers who appreciate both the science and the story of Hot Springs, “the Valley of the Vapors.” Now home to 47 geothermal springs this valley is where geology, ecology, and human history meet in one of the country’s most unique parks. The park here was founded and protected before Yellowstone or the National Park Service existed, in 1832. Whether you’re here to hike the Goat Rock or the Sunset Trail, hunt for crystals at Ron Coleman mine Crater of Diamonds, bike Northwoods, explore Bathhouse Row’s opulent historic bathhouses, try craft beer brewed from the thermal water at Superior Bathhouse, (the only brewery in a national park), the Ranger Cabin offers the perfect balance of serenity, adventure, history, and comfort.

Other Details to Note

Fires in the firepit may not be left unattended. You must make sure they are totally out when you are done. If you plan on using the firepit you must procure your own firewood. We recommend stopping at a grocery store before reaching Hot Springs. The cabin’s heat, stove and oven run on propane and it is supported by a whole house generator system just in case of an outage. Make sure to use the fan when cooking and remember to turn off the stove. The 10 minute drive to our house from downtown Hot Springs is a windy and hilly forest road and it can be very dark at night. Please take it slow, use your brights and look out for deer and other animals crossing the road. We see them often! Wildcat Estates lane is a dirt road with only four families that live on it. Please take it slow. Our property is the last driveway on the right before the gate. You will see a stone sign and an old historic chicken coup at the entrance to the drive. Sound travels easily in our valley. Please respect quiet hours and be mindful of your noise levels after 10:00pm and before 7:00am. There is a first aid kit in the bathroom cabinets and a fire extinguisher under the sink.

If you drive through a gate you have gone too far - that is our neighbors gate. There are two designated uncovered parking spots for you right in front of the cabin, (The smaller log house to the left). The closest grocery store is the Kroger 7 miles away. Locals call this the “little kroger”. If you need more of a selection, I recommend going to the big kroger further down on Central or the Walmart Superstore there. You do have to go through downtown to get to these so depending on the time of day, traffic can make this a longer trip There is also a Harps only 8 miles away down country roads in the other direction. This can often be the fastest. There is also a Walmart Superstore over there less than a mile from Harps. Our property has a lot of space and is very secluded but we do have neighbors and you can sometimes hear them. Please be nice and respectful. Quiet hours begin at 10 pm. This cabin is a perfect gem just minutes outside of Hot Springs. It’s the perfect mix of quaint cabin with updated amenities. We loved the hot tub. The location was perfect for us because we wanted to have a mountain/country feel but be close to the rest of Hot Springs. The host was super responsive and helpful.

our stay at the cabin was absolutely amazing. the house was far enough away from the city that you feel secluded in the mountains but close enough that the city isn’t but 15 mins away. there was anything you would need for an amazing stay here, from sleep masks, first aid kit, marshmallow roasting sticks, etc. you can tell there was so much thought and detail to making sure Thomas and Ashley’s guests have anything and everything they’d need for an amazing stay. extremely kid friendly. (loved that there wasn’t many breakable things, a must with a toddler). We will be back!!

Quiet, peaceful, clean and convenient to the sites and activities in the Hot springs area. Comfortable beds, both heat and AC performed well. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. Hot tub was special bonus at the end of the day. Thomas was engaging and very helpful with restaurant suggestions. Very responsive to our questions. This cabin is very well equipped. Even had little touches like bathrobes for to and from the hot tub and eye masks for sleep. Would stay again for sure.

The place was beautiful. The hosts were great! Hot springs was a blast. So nice being away from the town but also close enough to drive to in 10-15 mins. Was also baby friendly, our 14 month old had so much fun!

Had a great stay at the cabin! We had a great weekend with so much to do around to keep you entertained while away from the cabin. My fiancé and I got engaged on this trip so this place will always be special to us. The owner was very attentive and mindful to us before and during this trip always providing quality services. We are thankful for the experience.

We really enjoyed our visit to Hot Springs, the cabin was perfect. Nice touch with the fluffy bathrobes. The cabin was so charming. We did the hosts recommended hikes including the sunset trail ( this is a longer hike so make sure you leave fairly early), lots of climbing on this trail. Beautiful and scenic. Late April was perfect weather. Would recommend Thomas's cabin to anyone looking to unwind and wishing to visit the Hot Springs. We did a short day trip to Garvin Woodland Gardens it was worth the entry fee. Will definitely put Thomas's place on our return list.

Where do I start? My GF and I agreed the privacy was exactly what we needed. Both of us work hectic schedules and your place was the perfect getaway, where there was zero traffic noise, no pollution, no buildings but trees! I just spoke to my GF now and she absolutely loved it. She's never been in a hot tub before and that was super nice. The record player (Patsy Cline, Rolling Stones, Randy Travis records!!) was just an added wonderful touch. We saw "Reservoir Dogs" on the TV screen til 2am! She loved the extras that hotels don't have-- games, DVD's, hot tub, pots, pans, coffee, the scenery (we didn't care if it was just trees, we loved it!). Lastly, we both agreed that nothing went wrong on our stay at the cabin. It was extremely perfect. I played a few songs on my guitar and was definitely in tune with the world just being there playing a few notes. Simply wonderful! We want to go back bcz we didn't do all the things we wanted to do. Thank you guys for an experience we both enjoyed.
